The three judge panel hearing the lawsuit challenging Texas redistricting has predictably split down party lines and ruled against the people of Texas, disenfranchising most of South Texas and the entire city of Austin in the process.
The case is expected to be appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court, whose track record on such political cases is already dismally familiar.
Come next January, when a new Attorney General takes charge, expect this to get reviewed again under the Voting Rights Act, which the modern Republican Party appears more than happy to ignore.
